Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

Stone Cold Touch is filling the category “Book by an Author You Really Like” in my Full House Reading Challenge.

JLA has struck again, and it is beautiful.

Stone Cold Touch is more action-packed than White Hot Kiss was, and the stakes are higher than ever. Death is around every corner and Layla, Roth, and Zayne have to try to work together to keep innocents from losing their souls. It becomes difficult to know who their true friends are and who they can trust.

Stone Cold Touch can pretty much be summarized in the following: Roth vs. Zayne, Layla vs. herself.

Ah, Roth vs. Zayne. We all know that Layla should end up with Roth. Let’s be honest here. Anyone who is truly Team Zayne is fooling themselves. Not that Zayne isn’t a great guy, but Roth is so much better for Layla. JLA may have claimed that she didn’t know which guy Layla was going to end up with, but I’m not buying it. Roth all the way. That being said, this book is one big mess of a love triangle. If it was anyone other than JLA, that fact might have made me put the book down, but even JLA love triangles don’t bother me. I’m convinced, she’s a wizard. It does get fairly unbelievable that both guys are so in love with Layla and she’s like “I DON’T UNDERSTAND MY FEELINGS” but I’m capable of successfully suspending my disbelief and just rolling with it.

Layla goes through a lot of changes and trauma in this book. There are moments where she devolved into a whiny brat, but given that she is going through some serious stuff, it’s understandable. And she spends more time being pretty cool than being lame; not to mention that Bambi is one of the best secondary characters ever. I mean, a demonic familiar that is a tattoo until you need it to protect you? That’s pretty clever. And way cool.

And because it’s a JLA book, there’s plenty of kissing.

If you’ve never read a JLA book, I would ask what is wrong with you, but instead I’ll tell you to pick this series up. Or any of her other books, because they’re all great. Although Stone Cold Touch is quite possibly one of my favorites of hers. Keep the awesomeness alive Jennifer.

Isn’t it so great?! And I KNOW I’M DYING TO GET MY HANDS ON EVERY LAST BREATH.

I will be absolutely and completely shocked if Layla doesn’t end up with Roth. Not to mention completely and absolutely irate.

I love JLA, but I haven’t started this series yet. I’m kind of disappointed with her more recent novels (the Wait For You series, cough cough) so I’m kinda hesitant to start this one. Recently read Don’t Look Back and it was alright, but not nearly half as good as the Lux Series. :/
