I found this meme in a Book Blog Meme directory and I thought it sounded hilarious and awesome (sort of like the “honest” movie trailers?). There it was called Cover Story, though it didn’t appear that the host was still posting. I’ll attempt to link to them to see if they’re still doing this meme, cause it sounds very fun, though I was very fuzzy on the details, so I’m kind of making it up as I go. Here’s the original description:
Cover Story
Hosted by: The Violent Vixen
Description: This is Cover Story, a weekly linkup where we share the cover of a book we’ve never read and a short synopsis about what we think (or hope) the book is about. No cheating and reading the back cover or book blurb! This is totally about judging a book by its cover!
I used Random.org to pick a book on my extensive TBR list on Good Reads, therefore ensuring that I would know a lot less about the book and I would have to glean details from the cover.
This week’s book is: Die for Me (Revenants #1) by Amy Plum
First of all, I should probably say that I’ve actually read the first half of this book, so I somewhat know what it’s about, but I’m going to pretend like I don’t.
Obviously, this book screams YA. Girl in Prom Dress on some roof in Paris (that sounds like a dangerous combo, especially since it looks like one of those slanted “don’t walk around on me’ type of roofs). Plus the words DIE FOR ME like GET OUT NOW CHICK THIS IS NOT GOOD NEWS. All the red paired with her crazy pale skin suggests vampires. Plus the die for me bit. And she’s either Poison Ivy or all those decorative vines are out to get her.
I mean, lets be honest, it’s definitely a pretty cover. But I’m getting a post-Twilight vibe from it, if you know what I mean.
Likelihood of me picking up this book based solely on the cover: If I’m looking for a solid YA Paranormal Romance, then this would definitely catch my eye. I don’t do as many of those anymore cause they’ve started feeling cliche and dramatic to me, and the heroines are usually kind of annoying, but I’m a sucker for a pretty cover, which this definitely is.
What are your thoughts on the Die for Me Cover?
I started this one not too long ago and I immediately was bored out of my mind (and I’m on chapter 3) But I’m really strange and DNFing bothers me so I’ll probably stick it out haha
I always love watching people judge books by their covers. It’s generally a pretty hilarious thing to witness xD
Great post, Jessica! <3

You’re right – this is a really fun sounding meme! I’ll have to hop over to the host’s blog and see if they’re still doing it too. I think your assessment of this book sounds pretty spot-on. 🙂
