Trailer:

This movie is as much fun as it sounds. It’s clever, random, hilarious social commentary, imaginative, and heartwarming. It sort of follows the structure laid out by Wreck-it-Ralph (another FABULOUS movie, if you haven’t seen it), where the main characters visit different ‘worlds’. These worlds, rather than being video games like Ralph are different Lego settings.

The story itself is hilarious, with an average guy prophesied to be a hero, when really, he’s just an average guy. With dumb ideas.

But he’s extremely endearing nonetheless, so you are rooting for him from the first moment. He’s teamed up with a Gandalf like wizard voiced by Morgan Freeman and a crazy (awesome) chick voiced by Elizabeth Banks, and they make quite a team. They pick up other friends on the way (Namely Will Arnett as Batman), and the fun just multiplies.

And yes, the song “Everything is Awesome” gets REALLY annoying because they play it over and over and over and over and over but that’s the point and its actually really funny. Some of the social commentary is hilarious (coffee that costs $37).

Liam Neeson is the good cop/bad cop two face, and its both creepy and hilarious at the same time.

And then there’s a twist at the end that makes you go AWWWWW because it’s heartwarming and makes the story bigger than you were expecting.

All in all, a very fun, entertaining, at times hysterical film that is quite incredibly animated. All the lego work is really cool, and all the different realms and characters keep things fresh and interesting as the plot moves along. Highly recommended.
