Reader Recommends #14: Best Girl in a Prom Dress

Reader Recommends

This week’s Topic: Best Girl in a Prom Dress Books

You see the covers everywhere: it’s a current trend for YA books to feature a gorgeous girl in an equally gorgeous prom dress on the cover. But which books are actually worth picking up?

Entwined

This is a lovely retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses that is full of Jane Austen-esque romance and chilling magic. I definitely recommend it for anyone who loves a sweet romance, and lots of sweet family moments.

Alice in Zombieland

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

Zombies. Hot guys. Magic. Snarky best friends. This series is a ridiculously fun romp, with some zombie madness thrown in. And lots of making out.

The Selection

The Selection by Kiera Cass

I love these covers. Depending on how much you like romance, you may or may not like these books. It’s sort of like The Bachelor but set in a mildly dystopian world where the Bachelor is a Prince and the girl he chooses will be the next Queen. Just a warning, there’s a really annoying love triangle, but over all, this is a very entertaining series. With gorgeous covers.

The Winner's Curse

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

This a great romance/fantasy (with a gorgeous cover) about the daughter of a general and a slave she buys for herself. The slave turns out to be more than she was expecting (of course) and things start getting very complicated (war’s a-brewing).

On my To-Read list:

Something Strange and Deadly  Illuminate My Soul to Take   These Broken Stars

Next Week’s Topic: What Would Jesus Do? Best books with religious or inspirational themes.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be Christian books; next week’s topic is all about those spiritual or religious books that speak to your soul. Which are your favorites?
