This Week’s Topic: Annoying Heroines
We all love annoying heroines; don’t deny it. I personally can’t get enough of the whining, the refusing to talk to my personal awesome scooby gang about my terrible, stupid ideas and therefore getting someone killed in the process. Getting saved by the new-to-town hunky British guy isn’t just an option, it’s the only way I’m getting out of this alive.
Who are the heroines that you warn your book buds to steer clear of?

1. Emma from Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott
I have never loathed a protagonist the way I loathed Emma. I completely agree that she is going through a terrible, horrible time, and that warrants some pretty unusual behavior, but never before have I read a character so selfish, so annoying, so immature. It’s really a miracle I made it through the whole book.
2. America Singer from The Selection by Kiera Cass
Don’t get me wrong, I actually generally enjoyed this series (especially The One) but somewhere around The Elite I felt like throttling America. The love triangle was ridiculous and unbearable and she was being a shallow idiot for most of the book. So while I do recommend this series to people, I caution them that America will probably get on their nerves.
3. Ever from Evermore by Alyson Noel
I read this so long ago that I don’t even really remember why Ever is annoying, I just have this strong feeling that I hate her.
Next Week’s Topic: New Adult to Make You Cry
New Adult is all about tugging on the heartstrings. Many times the main character has gone through some horrible trauma, and the book is spent dealing with it so they can heal. What are some New Adult books that made you cry when you read them?
I’m with you on America Singer. It’s a wonder how she didn’t ruin the entire series. I have heard Eadlyn from The Heir is worse. I think that’s the main reason I have yet to read it.
