A little something different today; I discovered about a year ago that I really like French accordion music? Yes that question mark is there on purpose. It kind of came as a surprise to me too, but I started listened to Gypsy Jazz (look up Django Rheinhardt, you won’t be disappointed) (also yes, Gypsy Jazz is more of a guitar vibe) and then I saw this movie, Amelie, and I adored the score, which has a lot of accordion in it. There’s something so atmospheric about the accordion; it just makes you feel like you’re on the streets of Paris. Which is funny because I’ve been to Paris and I don’t think I heard one accordion while I was there.
Anyway, this movie is charming and the music is lovely and, like I said previously, very atmospheric. *Content Warning* Amelie is rated R, so while I recommend it for adults, don’t get any ideas kiddies.
This song is called La Valse des Monstres (The Waltz of the Monsters) and is 3 1/2 minutes of bouncy, beautiful accordion. Enjoy!
Hi Jessica.
I am a fan of crime author, James Ellroy. He sometimes uses real people from contemporary history {40’s, 50’s, 60’s} in his novels. One reoccurring character is Dick Contino, He was a semi-successful accordion player. I found a Dick Contino album in a thrift store and loved it!
Happy Reading!
Your pal,
~Icky. 🙂
Oh very nice 🙂 It’s a fun quirk for a character, and not something you see everyday in a book!
