Theater Thursdays: Peter Pan Live! and A Christmas Story

Unfortunately, I’m working tonight and won’t be able to watch Peter Pan on NBC (though all of you should—support Musical Theater being on TV again!) and once I watch it, I’ll review it and we can discuss last year’s performance of Sound of Music. If you don’t know what this is, NBC is producing full Broadway style musicals for live TV (last year they did Sound of Music—starring Carrie Underwood—and this year they’re doing Peter Pan—starring Allison Williams, Christopher Walken, and a host of talented Broadway actors). It’s very fun, and you should definitely check it out!

Christmas is not stranger to the Broadway stage, and holiday-themed shows always pop up during the Christmas Season.  This particular show, a musical version of the movie “A Christmas Story”, was on the Great White Way in the 2012-2013 season; it was nominated for Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical.  From the performance on the Tony Awards, it looks a little weird (though very fun with big dance numbers like this one), but I would have gone to see it just for the mini tap dancer.

Plus, you know, the leg lamp.
