Throwback Thursday #2

Throwback Thursday is a bookish meme hosted every two weeks by Christina @Booksane and Stephanie @Bookfever where you feature books that you’ve read in the past but are still crazy about. It could be a book you read as a child and still remember and love or maybe just a book that you haven’t read in a long time and want to show your love for. Each week we’ll be featuring a new random question to answer!

sabrielTitle: Sabriel

Author: Garth Nix

Series: Abhorsen #1

Genre: YA Fantasy

My Rating: 5 Stars

Good Reads Rating: 4.17

Good Reads Summary:

Sent to a boarding school in Ancelstierre as a young child, Sabriel has had little experience with the random power of Free Magic or the Dead who refuse to stay dead in the Old Kingdom. But during her final semester, her father, the Abhorsen, goes missing, and Sabriel knows she must enter the Old Kingdom to find him. She soon finds companions in Mogget, a cat whose aloof manner barely conceals its malevolent spirit, and Touchstone, a young Charter Mage long imprisoned by magic, now free in body but still trapped by painful memories. As the three travel deep into the Old Kingdom, threats mount on all sides. And every step brings them closer to a battle that will pit them against the true forces of life and death—and bring Sabriel face-to-face with her own destiny.

This is another book that I’ve read many times, and every time I go back to it I’m reminded of why I love it! It’s a really interesting YA Fantasy with fascinating magic and interesting characters. It’s another good one for those who like the genre but don’t necessarily want to wade through almost 1000 pages. It’s definitely not as complicated as a High Fantasy, since it’s YA, but it has many of the characteristics. Highly recommended.
