{Book Review} At Grave’s End by Jeaniene Frost

Synopsis:

Jeaniene Frost delivers an even more exciting, sexier, darker, and more violent story in her third Night Huntress book. At Grave’s End was somehow even better than the first two, and my only complaint was that I wish it were longer!

Cat and Bones are back and the stakes are raised even higher as Cat is becoming more and more infamous in the undead world. Her marks are recognizing her before she can bag ‘em, risking both her safety the lives of everyone around her. Her father, the undead and unhappy Max, is still after her, and he doesn’t have a sweet daddy-daughter date in mind for their reunion. As if that weren’t enough, a vengeful woman from Bones and Mencheres’ (Bones’ vampiric grandsire) past is out for blood, and she won’t stop for anything or anyone until she gets it.

This book. Jeaniene Frost pulls a lot of stuff in this book. Let me tell you, reading it is stressful. My heart felt like it needed a defibrillator more than once while I read this.

Even so, the story is more complex than the previous two. The romance between Bones and Cat just keeps getting better; they actually work through some serious issues. I don’t know how anyone could NOT be rooting for them.

There is a love triangle here that I DO NOT APPROVE OF.

I mean, it’s not too annoying because Cat is so hopelessly devoted to Bones and vice versa, but still. Ugh. I just have an aversion to love triangles.

Cat continues to be awesome; sometimes she’s childish, throwing fits cause she doesn’t get her way, but it’s pretty fun to see Bones deal with her tantrums. Other than that, Cat is willing to jump head first into the undead fray to protect, well, the world. Bones is not as willing, though he’d do anything for Cat.

This book is not suitable for children (I’M LOOKING AT YOU TEENAGERS). And not because of the sex. Although there is that. But because there are some VIOLENT parts. Torture. Ew. Vampire bitey bitey times. Sure the tension caused by said violent parts is part of what makes this book so awesome (for real though, Frost knows how to use her violence in the best possible way), but hey, don’t be passing this around at your after school book club.

The Night Huntress series is everything I want in a Paranormal Romance series about vampires. They’re dark, sexy, led by a kick-ass heroine and smokin’ British vampire hottie. There’s magic, violent encounters, snarky conversations, touching emotional scenes, and serious relationships. I cannot wait to devour the next four books (not to mention her other series!). If you like Paranormal Romance, you can’t do better than The Night Huntress  series!
