Six weeks ago, I had been innocently collecting wildflowers on a Scottish hill to take home to my husband. I was now shut in the room of a rural inn, awaiting a completely different husband, whom I scarcely knew, with firm orders to consummate a forced marriage, at risk of my life and liberty.

Ok. I waited way too long to read this book. IT’S. SO. GOOD. And thankfully, less graphic so far than the TV show on all fronts. I know some of the worst is yet to come, but it’s been practically tame compared to the show up till now, so it’s been a more pleasant read than I was expecting. Not to mention that Jamie and Claire are both more interesting and more likable in the book (especially Jamie. Geeze. He’s wonderful). Not that I don’t like the characters on the show, but they just aren’t as well developed as those in the book.

The Outlander series is my most favorite books. I read the first book when it came out in the 80’s! My daughter is a fan also and met Diana Gabaldon last year when she was in Oxford. As for graphic- you haven’t gotten there yet! But she has a wonderful how-to on her blog about how to write a sex scene and for her it’s all about what you don’t say. I love her Characters. You really enter her world. Just in case you want to watch the first season again before Season 2, Starz has on their website the whole season for free to watch till April 9th- http://www.starz.com/originals/outlander/episodes -Enjoy!

Yes!! Love it 🙂 That is so awesome! My main point about the graphicness was just that it feels less graphic than the tv show – it’s probably just because I’m very visual, so watching things affects me more than reading. But yeah, the book is so good! I can’t wait for season 2!!
